| The School of Nursing is one of 23 academic schools and
departments set up in the Tianjin Medical University which is
located in the centre of Tianjin. The Tianjin Medical University
was set up in 1951 and is the first medical university set up
by the State Council after the People’s Republic of China was
established, and is one of the key universities. |
| The School of Nursing was founded in August 1983. It is
proud of its history and is the first Nursing School in P.R.China
to offer an undergraduate degree program. Later a graduate program
leading to a Master of Nursing program was begun in 1994. The
School of Nursing enjoys a national reputation for excellence
in nursing. The National Nursing Higher Education Committee
was established in 1996 at the School and has its office at
the Nursing School. |
| The multi-level university education program at the Tianjian
Medical University Nursing School is committed to providing
excellent, advanced, higher education learning opportunities
for its students, providing an intellectually stimulating environment,
and also in leading the advancement of nursing practice and
research in the future. The B.N. program takes in 120 students
each year and is normally a 5-year program. The M.N. program
normally takes 3 years to complete. |
| The School of Nursing in Tianjin Medical University education
incorporates clinical and community nursing practice, nursing
research, and service to the university and wider community.
There are approximately twenty institutions available for the
students to gain knowledge in nursing practice: tertiary and
secondary care hospitals, and cancer, children, maternal, psychiatric,
and infectious disease hospitals as well as opportunities for
community and hospice care. The Nursing School understands the
importance of a broad education and is the first nursing school
to offer courses in psychology, ethics, sociology, aesthetics,
music, literature and writing. It is also the first to offer
courses in community nursing and hospice care. |
| The School of Nursing also understands the value of international
contact and exchange programs, and has collaborated with a number
of foreign nursing institutions and welcomed visitors from USA,
Canada, Australia, Japan, Finland, Britain and from different
areas of China including Hong Kong. |
| The School of Nursing in Tianjin Medical University will
make every effort in the future to contribute positively to
the advancement of nursing practice in the coming years. |
