Adult education of Tianjin Medical University started in 1950's. The setting-up of the Evening College was ratified by the National Education Council in November 1986. Over the past 10 years or more, 2447 undergraduate students were trained and graduated from the evening college and 1695 persons obtained diploma of junior college. The evening college provided 5775 backbone personnel for the whole nation and there were 2650 persons accepting different kinds of training. The evening college has become an imperative part of higher medical education.In order to meet the demand on medical personnel of the farm areas,enterprises and institutions, the evening college also started junior college &127;program &127;in &127;neighbouring &127;areas &127;including &127;Hangu,&127; District, Wuqing County, Dagang District, Nanjiao District, Dagang Oil Field and etc.

The evening college attained good social reputation with its strict management. In 1992, the evening college was named "Advanced Institution of Adult Higher Education" by the former National Education Council. And the evening college was chosen, many times,as "Advanced Group" for starting continuing education program for Adult College Entrance Examination Candidates and "Advance Chief Examiner Institution" for Tianjin Higher Education Self-study Examinations. The evening college was ranked as No 1 of Tianjin adult college during the appraisal on adult education work in 1996.In December 1995 Tianjin Education Council ratified the setting-up of Adult Education School of our institution.Adult Education School started programs for academic credentials.And it also organize tutorial activities for Self-study Examination and hold training classes of special specialties for the nation and other short-term training program. Since the start of Full-time Junior College program for Higher Education Self-study Examination in 1992, it has already had three specialties---Clinical Medicine,Pharmacology and Nursing.

1. Clinical Medicine (3-year system)

In order to meet the demand of Four Modernization Construction, the clinical docters should be good in study, attitude and &127;health &127;and should also be qualified for work in the farm areas and basic-level medical care institutions. They should study and master the basic theory, basic knowledge and basic skills on modern medical sciences and have the ability to do the work on medical care and medical prevention.
