Brief Introduction to Medico-Humanities Department
of Tianjin Medical University

The Medico-Humanities Dept. of Tianjin Medical University is a newly established department with 9 teaching and research groups, The Research Section of the Basic Legal Science; the Research Section of the Medical Law; the Teaching Center for Field Practice; the Research Section of the Basic Psychology; the Research Section of the Clinic Psychology; the Research Section of Marxism Theory and Practice; the Research Section of Ideology aAnd Moral Cultivation; the Ethics Research Section; the Research Section for Literature and Art. The Department has got a staff of 39 and an enrollment of 273.

At present, the Department, after getting the financial support from Tianjin Education Commission during the period of Tenth 5-year Planning, has been well equipped with such teaching facilities as library, E-reading room, multi-media classrooms and teaching bases for on-field projects. Keeping in our minds the goal of realizing the nice combination of medical science and the humanities, we put the emphases upon making stand out the characteristics of the Medico-Humanities Department, and try to lay a solid foundation, which will help Tianjin Medical University to complete the shift to the comprehensive multi-disciplinary university.

The Medico-Humanities Department claims to have an excellent teaching staff. Among them, there are 15 teachers holding professorship, accounting to 41% of the total teaching staff, and furthermore, to enhance the teaching strength, since 2001, the Department has invited the postgraduates, from the famous universities at home, such as Beijing University, Nankai University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University and China People University, to join the Department.
