Dear Colleagues,

We have a great pleasure in inviting you to attend the International Conference on Translational Cancer Research and Therapy to be held in Tianjin on 21-23 October 2002.

Extensive cancer research in the second half of the 20th century, culminated by the near completion of Human Genome Project, has led to deepened understanding of the molecular basis of cancers. This new understanding is poised to have a lasting impact on cancer diagnosis and therapeutics in the 21st century. However, the path of translation of laboratory research to more accurate and specific clinical diagnosis and therapy is still full of obstacles. New effort has to be made. New bridges between researchers and clinicians, biologists and informaticians, scientists and patients have to be built to tackle the difficult task of curbing cancers. This conference aims to build some of the bridges by reviewing the recent progress in translational cancer research, diagnosis and therapy.

The theme of the conference will be fine keynote addresses and update lectures by members of our distinguished faculty.

We hope that the exciting social program will complement your visit to Tianjin and make your participation in the Conference a most memorable one.

We look forward to your participation in Tianjin, 2002.
